Curly parsley 'Moss Green' (Petroselinum crispum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

Moss Green curly parsley is an heirloom variety dating back to the mid-1800s, prized for its finely cut dark green leaves and richer flavor than plain parsley. Its tall, vigorous stems hold the foliage well above the ground, making it a great choice for cooking and as an ornamental. It retains its freshness and deep color for a long time without browning or bleaching, making it an ideal choice for garnishing and growing in containers. Adapted to a variety of climates, it thrives in full sun to partial shade and is easy to grow in a vegetable garden or container.

Height: 11 to 13 inches
Spacing: 12 to 14 inches
Quantity per pack: Untreated, non-GMO seeds
Companion plants: Tomato, asparagus, carrot, pepper
Enemy plants: Lettuce, mint

Cultivation method:

To optimise germination, soak seeds in warm water overnight before sowing. Then sow 6 mm (1/4") deep in rows 40 cm (16") apart, keeping the soil moist and well mulched to prevent crusting which would prevent seedlings from emerging.

Be patient, as germination can take up to three weeks. Once the seedlings are well established, thin them to 10 cm (4") apart. Parsley appreciates rich, well-drained soil that is kept moist. Regular watering and good weeding will ensure it produces abundant and tasty foliage throughout the season.

Versatile and hardy, this curly parsley is as decorative as it is useful. Whether it's to enhance your dishes or beautify your garden, it's a must-have for passionate gardeners and cooks!
