identification
description
Sprouting broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Broccoli sprouts develop a mild, slightly vegetal flavor, ideal for enriching salads, sandwiches, wraps, and lunch bowls. They form thin, crisp stems accompanied by small, tender green leaves, adding color and texture to dishes. Easy to grow in just a few days, they are a versatile and much-loved microgreen in everyday cooking.
Height: 5 to 8 cm
Spacing: Close-cropped tray
Sowing: Soaking + indoor germination
Exposure: Soft light
Quantity per packet: 60g of seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Soak the seeds for a few hours, then prepare a germination tray lined with a thin layer of substrate or a damp blanket. Sprinkle the seeds evenly and mist to maintain consistent moisture. Gently rinse or mist twice a day, ensuring the tray drains thoroughly. Sprouts will develop in 7 to 10 days, producing slender green stems and attractive uniformity. Allow to dry slightly before refrigerating.
Soaking
Soak the seeds for 2 to 3 hours to activate germination and promote uniform cultivation.
Yield
One tablespoon of seeds produces about one cup of fresh sprouts, perfect for a variety of culinary uses.
Storage
Store the seeds in a cool, dry place. Refrigerating or freezing them will extend their shelf life and maintain an excellent germination rate.
