Chickpea microgreens
description
Sprouting chickpeas (Cicer arietinum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Chickpea sprouts are crisp, slightly nutty, and have a very satisfying texture. They are perfect for salads, snacks, sprout mixes, or can be lightly sautéed. Highly productive, they offer a large volume of sprouts in a very short time, making them ideal for both beginners and experienced gardeners.
Height: 1 to 2 cm (sprouts), 4 to 5 cm if left to grow
Spacing: Close-cropped in jars
Sowing: Soaking + indoor germination
Exposure: Darkness or soft light
Quantity per packet: 90g of seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Soak the seeds for several hours, then rinse and drain twice a day. The sprouts appear quickly and can be eaten very young or left to grow. Dry them lightly before refrigerating to improve their shelf life.
Soaking
Soak the seeds for 6 to 10 hours to ensure vigorous germination.
Yield
Four tablespoons of seeds produce about eight cups of firm, crisp sprouts.
Storage
Keep unsprouted seeds in a cool, dry place. Refrigerating or freezing them will maximize their shelf life.
