description
Wheatgrass (Triticum aestivum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Wheatgrass is one of the easiest and fastest sprouts to grow at home, providing a concentrated natural source of nutrients. It develops in just a few days, producing vibrant green young stems rich in chlorophyll and perfect for juicing or smoothies. Suitable for year-round indoor cultivation, it only requires soaking, regular watering, and a germination tray to provide fresh, tender, and aromatic grass.
Height: 10 to 15 cm
Spacing: Sowing close together in trays
Sowing: Soaking + indoor germination
Exposure: Sunlight or bright indoor light
Quantity per packet: 90g of seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Soak the seeds for 4 to 8 hours, drain, then spread them in 1 to 2 layers in a germination tray with drainage holes. Maintain consistent moisture by rinsing or misting twice a day. Sprouts appear in 2 to 3 days , and the young shoots reach the ideal height for harvesting in about 10 days .
Grow preferably in light, moist soil to limit the appearance of mold, which is more common in hydroponic systems. Cut the grass as soon as it reaches 10 to 15 cm; any longer and it becomes fibrous. Refrigerate immediately after cutting to preserve freshness.
Pot method:
Place 3 to 5 tablespoons of seeds in a wide-mouthed jar with a mesh lid. Rinse, drain, then add 1 cup of cold water and soak for about 6 hours. Rinse twice a day, drain well, and leave the jar tilted to allow for ventilation. The sprouts are ready in 2 to 3 days and can be stored in the refrigerator.
