Cultivation method:
The 'Melonade' cantaloupe is sown indoors in early spring , about 6 weeks before transplanting . Once all risk of frost has passed, gradually harden off the seedlings , then transplant them into the garden. Choose a warm, sheltered spot in full sun .
This variety prefers fertile, well-drained soil rich in organic matter, with an ideal pH between 6.5 and 7. Plant the seedlings in small mounds , spaced about 1 m apart, in rows 1 to 1.5 m apart. Early in the season, the use of cloches or tunnels is recommended in cooler regions to encourage establishment. Pinching the tips of the stems can accelerate fruit ripening.
