The organic 'Lemon' cucumber is an original and attractive variety, known for its small, round, lemon-yellow fruits that stand out in the garden. Cultivation method:
The 'Lemon' cucumber can be sown indoors at least 3 weeks before transplanting , or sown directly in the garden when the soil temperature reaches approximately 16°C and there is no longer any risk of frost. For indoor sowing, the use of biodegradable pots (such as Jiffy pots) is recommended to reduce transplant shock.
It prefers light, fertile, and well-drained soil in full sun . Sow 5 to 6 seeds per mound , spaced 1.5 to 3 meters apart in all directions. Water the soil thoroughly before transplanting. Using a dark mulch helps warm the soil and retain moisture. Climbing plants thrive when trained on a trellis , which facilitates harvesting and improves fruit quality.
Harvest :
Harvest the fruit regularly , before it fully ripens on the vine, to maintain continuous production. Table cucumbers are harvested when they reach approximately 15 to 20 cm in length (for elongated varieties), while 'Lemon' cucumbers are generally picked young and round , when they are well-colored and still firm.
