'White Lisbon' shallot on ribbon (Allium fistulosum), offered by the seed company WH Perron

The 'White Lisbon' ribbon shallot is a highly prized variety , valued for its long, white stem and elegant blue-green foliage . It does not form a bulb , making it ideal for harvesting tender, crisp green shallots . Easy to clean and mild in flavor, it is perfect for salads, garnishes, and fresh cooking. Its high yield and consistent growth make it a reliable choice for the vegetable garden.

Thanks to pre-sown seed tape , planting is simple, quick, and precise: the seeds are already arranged at the ideal density , eliminating the need for thinning and ensuring uniform germination. This method is suitable for both novice and experienced gardeners, allowing for clean and well-organized cultivation.

Cultivation method:

The 'White Lisbon' shallot tape can be sown directly in the garden as soon as the soil can be worked. The biodegradable tape facilitates planting and ensures even spacing.

This variety prefers rich, fertile soil , whether mineral or organic, kept moist but not waterlogged . The recommended spacing between rows is 35 to 38 cm . Applying fertilizer early in the growing season , followed by a second application when growth intensifies, promotes vigorous, well-developed stems. Full sun gives the best results.

Harvest :

Harvesting begins after approximately 5 to 6 weeks , when the stems reach 15 to 20 cm . Harvest by gently pulling on the entire plant . Successive sowings allow for staggered harvests over a long period.
