Four-Hour Jalapa Mix (Mirabilis jalapa) , offered by the seed company WH Perron

Jalapa Mix Four-O'Clock Plants are fascinating and very popular plants, known for their unique late afternoon bloom. They produce fragrant and colorful flowers, in single or bi-colored, sometimes even on the same plant. Native to the Malaysian archipelago, this variety is used as a natural clock, thanks to its regularity in opening at a specific time of day. Ideal for flowerbeds and containers, it adds a touch of magic and mystery to your garden all summer long.

Cultivation method:

Sow seeds indoors about 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost or directly in the ground when the soil has warmed. Plant seeds 1 to 2 cm deep in well-drained, fertile soil. Four-O'clocks prefer full sun to partial shade and require moderate watering.

Pinch back young shoots to encourage abundant branching and generous flowering. These plants thrive particularly well in warm areas and are drought-resistant. Once established, they will attract pollinators with their delicate fragrance and colorful flowers.

These Quatre-Hures will transform your summer evenings into magical moments, illuminating your garden with their glow and filling the air with a pleasant fragrance. An easy-to-grow plant, perfect for beginners or experienced gardeners looking to add a touch of exotic and fragrant charm to their outdoor space.
