'Regina Queen 2' lettuce (Lactuca sativa), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

Regina Queen 2 lettuce is a highly prized variety for its succulent, buttery texture and supple, light green, creamy-white heads. Its mild flavor and tender texture make it ideal for fresh salads, while its good tolerance to mild heat makes it an excellent choice for cooler regions or early plantings. This variety produces uniform, flavorful heads that lend themselves to successive harvests throughout spring and fall.

Height: 25 to 30 cm
Spacing: 30 to 35 cm
Sowing: Direct sowing
Exposure: Full sun or partial sun / Partial shade
Quantity per packet: 1,500 seeds, untreated, non-GMO

Cultivation method:

Sow directly outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, in organic, cool, and well-drained soil. Place the seeds approximately 3 mm deep in rows spaced 45 cm apart and maintain consistent moisture throughout the growing season, which is essential for tender leaves and preventing premature bolting. Sow every two weeks to ensure a continuous supply of fresh lettuce.

Thin or transplant to 30-35 cm to allow for the formation of beautiful, buttery heads. In hot weather, use shade cloth to protect the leaves. To harvest, cut the head at the base or pick the outer leaves, leaving 2.5 cm above the crown to allow for regrowth.
