'Regina' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds

The Regina tomato, a heirloom variety prized by market growers, produces beautiful, round 3- to 4-ounce fruits with sweet, flavorful flesh. Its vigorous, indeterminate plants offer abundant production throughout the season, with good disease resistance. Ideal for salads, fresh dishes, or light canning.

Height: 45 to 55 cm
Spacing: 35 to 45 cm
Sowing: Indoor sowing
Exposure: Full sun
Growth type: Indeterminate
Quantity per packet: 200 to 250 seeds, untreated, non-GMO

Cultivation method:

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost in a light, warm potting mix, covering the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Maintain a temperature of around 22 to 24°C for germination in 5 to 10 days. Transplant when the seedlings show their first true leaves, providing them with bright, consistent light.

Transplant outdoors after the last frost, spacing the plants 35 to 45 cm apart in rich, loose, and well-amended soil. Provide sturdy support for vertical growth and sustained production. Water regularly at the base and mulch to retain moisture and limit foliar diseases.

The Regina stands out for its reliability, high yield and consistent fruit quality, making it a preferred choice for family vegetable gardens as well as market garden production.
