Organic 'Aussie' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a juicy, sweet and spectacular Australian giant for lovers of colossal fruits

The 'Aussie' tomato lives up to its name: a true giant from Australia. Indeterminate, vigorous, and generous, it produces jumbo fruits weighing 1 to 2 lbs , massive, meaty, and perfect for thick slices or gourmet sandwiches. Its flavor is reminiscent of classic red tomatoes: sweet, balanced, rich, and perfectly juicy , with a touch of acidity that enhances its character.

Thanks to its robust, tall plants, 'Aussie' offers excellent performance in the garden, but requires sturdy staking , as the fruits quickly reach impressive sizes. Farming method

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting out . Bury the seeds 3–6 mm deep in a light potting mix and maintain a temperature of 23–29°C for germination in 5 to 10 days . Reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening off to produce strong, well-structured seedlings.

Transplant when all risk of frost has passed. Leave 60 to 90 cm (24–36") between plants and 120 to 180 cm (4–6') between rows. Provide full sun (level 3) , regular watering (level 3) , and install very sturdy staking , essential for supporting its enormous fruit.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest when the fruits are bright red and slightly soft. To get an early start, pick when the tomato shows its first blush , then let it ripen at 22°C or higher . Store your harvest between 12–21°C , with 95% relative humidity , to preserve its juicy flesh.
