Double Camelia Begonia 'Orange'

Orange Double Camellia Begonia (Begonia × tuberhybrida ‘Orange’) stands out with its large, double bright orange flowers formed by rounded, tightly overlapping petals arranged in camellia-like rosettes. From June to October, its abundant blooms renew themselves continuously, bringing warmth, brilliance, and vitality to shaded landscapes. Its dark green foliage creates an elegant contrast that intensifies the brightness of the flowers. Reaching 25 to 30 cm in height, this tuberous begonia has a compact habit well suited to containers. Perennial in Zone 10, it must be overwintered in a frost-free location under Quebec conditions.
Plant the tubers in spring after all danger of frost has passed, approximately 2 to 3 cm deep, with the hollow side facing upward. Place them in partial sun or partial shade in a rich, light, fertile, perfectly drained growing medium with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Keep the soil evenly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged, and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during active growth. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage the formation of new buds. Before the first frost, lift the tubers, allow them to dry, and store them in a cool, dry, frost-free location.
Ideal for shaded flower beds, borders, window boxes, and large containers, this begonia energizes garden displays with its vivid orange colouring. It pairs beautifully with impatiens, fuchsias, lobelias, bacopas, and coral bells, which highlight the richness of its flowering. The flowers may attract some pollinators but are valued primarily for their outstanding ornamental appeal. They are also suitable for fresh bouquets, where their generous form adds volume, colour, and warmth. This variety is not intended for consumption.
