Begonia Double Pendula 'White'

White Double Pendula Begonia (Begonia × tuberhybrida Pendula ‘White’) charms with its large, double pure white flowers that cascade gracefully from flexible stems above glossy green foliage. From June to October, its abundant blooms renew themselves continuously, forming luminous floral cascades that bring freshness, lightness, and elegance to shaded landscapes. Reaching 20 to 25 cm in height with a naturally trailing habit, this tuberous begonia is especially well suited to hanging containers. Perennial in Zone 10, it is not winter hardy in Quebec and must be overwintered in a frost-free location.

Plant the tuber in spring after all danger of frost has passed, approximately 2 to 3 cm deep, with the hollow side facing upward. Place it in partial sun or partial shade in a rich, light, fertile, perfectly drained growing medium with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Keep the growing medium evenly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged, and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during active growth. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage the formation of new buds. Before the first frost, lift the tuber, allow it to dry, and store it in a cool, dry, frost-free location.

Ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, large containers, and sheltered patios, this begonia creates a spectacular display wherever its stems can cascade freely. It pairs beautifully with lobelia, bacopa, dichondra, impatiens, and fuchsias to create abundant, luminous arrangements. The flowers may attract some pollinators but are valued primarily for their outstanding ornamental appeal. They are also suitable for floral decorations, where their pure white colour brings softness and refinement. This variety is not intended for consumption.
