Begonia Double Pendula 'Yellow'

Yellow Double Pendula Begonia (Begonia × tuberhybrida Pendula ‘Yellow’) brightens summer displays with its large, double vivid yellow flowers carried on flexible stems that cascade gracefully. From June to October, its abundant blooms renew themselves continuously above glossy green foliage with serrated edges, creating a display that is both luminous and elegant. Reaching 20 to 25 cm in height with a naturally trailing habit, this tuberous begonia is perfectly suited to hanging containers. Perennial in Zone 10, it is not winter hardy in Quebec and must be overwintered in a frost-free location.
Plant the tuber in spring after all danger of frost has passed, approximately 2 to 3 cm deep, with the hollow side facing upward. Place it in partial sun or partial shade in a rich, light, fertile, perfectly drained growing medium with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Keep the soil evenly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged, and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during active growth. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage the formation of new buds. Before the first frost, lift the tuber, allow it to dry, and store it in a cool, dry, frost-free location.
Ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, large containers, and sheltered patios, this begonia creates magnificent floral cascades wherever its stems can trail freely. It pairs beautifully with lobelia, bacopa, dichondra, impatiens, and fuchsias to create abundant, luminous arrangements. The flowers may attract some pollinators but are valued primarily for their outstanding ornamental appeal. They are also suitable for decorative floral arrangements, where their bright yellow colour adds warmth and brilliance. This variety is not intended for consumption.
