Non-stop 'Red' Begonia

Non-stop Red Begonia (Begonia × tuberhybrida Non-stop ‘Red’) stands out with its large, double deep red flowers arranged in compact rosettes that bloom continuously from June to October. Their vivid colour contrasts beautifully with thick, dense dark green foliage, creating a rich and dramatic display. Reaching 20 to 30 cm in height, this tuberous begonia has a uniform, compact habit that is perfectly suited to smaller spaces. Perennial in Zone 10, it is not winter hardy in Quebec and should be grown as a seasonal plant or overwintered in a frost-free location.
Plant the tuber in spring after all danger of frost has passed, approximately 2 to 3 cm deep, with the hollow side facing upward. Place it in partial sun or partial shade in rich, light, fertile, perfectly drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Keep the growing medium evenly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged, and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during active growth. Remove faded flowers regularly to support continuous blooming. Before the first frost, lift the tuber, allow it to dry, and store it in a cool, dry, frost-free location.
Ideal for shaded flower beds, borders, window boxes, large containers, and sheltered patios, this begonia brings warmth, intensity, and character to summer displays. It pairs beautifully with impatiens, fuchsias, lobelias, bacopas, and coral bells, which highlight the depth of its red flowers. The blooms may attract some pollinators but are valued primarily for their outstanding ornamental appeal. With its dense habit and uninterrupted flowering, it is an excellent choice for adding bold colour to smaller spaces. This variety is not intended for consumption.
