Novelty Begonia 'Rosebud'

Novelty Rosebud Begonia (Begonia × tuberhybrida ‘Bouton de Rose’) captivates with its large, fully double pink-and-white flowers, whose finely fringed petals resemble a rosebud just beginning to open. From June to October, its abundant blooms renew themselves continuously, bringing romance, volume, and refinement to shaded landscapes. Its textured green foliage creates an elegant contrast that highlights the generous form of the flowers. Reaching approximately 30 cm in height, this tuberous begonia is perfectly suited to containers and borders. Perennial in Zone 10, it must be overwintered in a frost-free location under Quebec conditions.
Plant the tuber in spring after all danger of frost has passed, approximately 2 to 3 cm deep, with the hollow side facing upward. Place it in partial sun or partial shade in rich, light, fertile, perfectly drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Keep the growing medium evenly moist without allowing it to become waterlogged, and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during active growth. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage the formation of new buds. Before the first frost, lift the tuber, allow it to dry, and store it in a cool, dry, frost-free location.
Ideal for shaded flower beds, borders, window boxes, and large containers, this begonia creates romantic, elegant displays. It pairs beautifully with impatiens, fuchsias, lobelias, bacopas, and coral bells, which highlight the delicacy of its bicoloured flowers. The blooms may attract some pollinators but are valued primarily for their outstanding ornamental appeal. They are also suitable for bouquets and floral arrangements, where their rosebud-like form adds volume and refinement. This variety is not intended for consumption.
