Airbrush Calla Lily (Zantedeschia ‘Airbrush’) is a rhizomatous perennial admired for its elegant cup-shaped flowers in blended shades of soft pink and pastel peach. Their delicate colouring creates a luminous airbrushed effect, while the glossy green foliage, often marked with small white spots, enhances the plant’s exotic appearance. From June to August, its refined blooms bring softness and elegance to summer landscapes and floral arrangements. Reaching 45 to 60 cm in height, the plant forms an attractive clump of deciduous foliage. Hardy only to Zone 10, it must be protected from frost in Quebec.
Plant the rhizomes in spring after all danger of frost has passed, in a location with partial sun or partial shade. Rich, fertile, evenly moist, and perfectly drained soil encourages vigorous growth and abundant flowering. Lay the rhizomes flat, 8 to 10 cm deep, and space them 30 to 40 cm apart. Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture without allowing the soil to become waterlogged. An application of compost and a balanced fertilizer every two weeks will support flowering. Before the first frost, lift the rhizomes and store them in a cool, dry place.
‘Airbrush’ calla lily is ideal for summer flower beds, borders, patios, large containers, and bouquets. For container growing, use a pot at least 30 cm in diameter with excellent drainage. Its pink and peach tones pair beautifully with begonias, caladiums, cannas, coleus, and coral bells to create refined tropical displays. Highly valued for their excellent vase life, the flowers are perfect for elegant, luminous arrangements. They may also attract some pollinators, but they are not intended for consumption and should be grown exclusively for ornamental use.
