Gourmet Potato ‘German Butterball’ (Solanum tuberosum). A golden potato with a rich, buttery flavor! The 'German Butterball' potato is a late gourmet variety, renowned for its slightly rough golden skin and rich, creamy yellow flesh. Its incomparable buttery taste makes it a favorite of chefs and gardeners, ideal for velvety mashed potatoes, crispy roasted potatoes, hearty soups, and even homemade fries. Very easy to grow and disease-resistant, it produces a high yield and offers excellent storage capacity, making it a perfect variety for autumn harvests to store all winter. Quantity: 500 g (approximately 6 to 10 tubers).
March to April, as soon as the soil reaches 8-10°C (46-50°F) and there is no longer a risk of frost. Open field method. Then, prepare the soil by loosening it and incorporating compost or well-rotted manure. Then, plant the tubers 10 cm (4 in) deep, with the sprouts facing upwards. Then, space each plant 30 cm (12 in) apart, in rows spaced 70 cm (28 in) apart. Then, cover with soil and water lightly. When the plants reach 20-25 cm (8 to 10 in) in height, mound soil around the stems to protect the tubers from light and prevent them from turning green. Repeat this operation once or twice during the season.
Pot or grow bag cultivation. Then, choose a large container (minimum 40 cm (16 in) deep). Then, plant the tubers in 15 cm (6 in) of potting soil, then cover. Then, add potting soil gradually as the plant grows. Then, water regularly without waterlogging the soil. Tip: Well-drained soil and crop rotation prevent diseases such as blight and scab. Harvest: 110 to 130 days after planting, when the foliage begins to yellow and dry. Let the potatoes dry on the ground for a few hours before storing them. Storage: Store them in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated place to extend their shelf life.
