Rhubarb takes 2 to 3 years to reach its full potential .
Once well established, it produces effortlessly for 10 to 15 years .
Do not harvest in the first year to allow the plant to become well established.
When and where to plant
Plant in spring or autumn , in rich, well-drained soil.
Choose a location in full sun to ensure optimal growth.
Respect a spacing of 60 cm (24") between each plant , rhubarb needs space to develop.
How to plant
1. Dig a hole approximately 15 cm (6") deep .
2Install the rhubarb wreath with the buds pointing upwards.
3Lightly cover with soil and water generously after planting.
4Apply mulch to retain moisture and limit weed growth.

Water regularly , especially during periods of drought.
Remove the flower stalks as soon as they appear to encourage stem growth.
Do not harvest before the second year , then gradually in subsequent years.
Trim the withered leaves in autumn and enrich the soil with compost.

2nd year : Harvest only a few stems , in moderation.
3rd year and following : Harvest generously from June to October .

Do not cut the stems! Pull them firmly downwards and twist to detach them at the base.
Never harvest more than [number] stems at once , to preserve the vigor of the plant.
The leaves are toxic , do not consume them.
Storage tip :
Fresh stems can be kept for 1 to 2 weeks in the refrigerator and can be frozen after being cut into pieces.
