Tuberous Milkweed (2 plants) – A Butterfly Magnet
Butterfly weed ( Asclepias tuberosa ), also known as butterfly weed , is a spectacular perennial that attracts a multitude of pollinators. Unlike its cousins, it does not produce white latex and is distinguished by its stunning bright orange flowers , which brighten gardens from June to September.
This North American native plant is essential for the monarch butterfly , which lays its eggs there and whose caterpillars feed on the foliage. Adapted to dry and poor soils , it is perfect for prairie-type gardens, sunny borders and naturalistic beds.

Where to plant it
Pollinator Garden : Perfect for attracting bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects.
Dry landscaping and rock gardens : Adapts well to poor, well-drained soils.
Naturalist garden : Ideal for recreating a prairie environment in association with other native perennials.
How to plant
1Loosen the soil to a depth of about 20 cm.
2Plant 2-3 cm deep , spacing the plants 30 to 40 cm apart.
3Water moderately after planting, then let dry between waterings.
4Add mulch (gravel, wood chips) to limit evaporation and keep the soil cool in summer.
Maintenance
Drought tolerant plant – water only in case of prolonged drought.
Don't move it : it develops a deep taproot, making it difficult to transplant.
Remove faded flowers if you want to prolong flowering.
Leave the stems in winter so that the seeds can reseed naturally and feed the birds.
An essential ecological role
Host plant of the monarch butterfly : Essential for its survival, because its caterpillars feed exclusively on milkweed.
Abundant nectar source : Attracts a wide variety of pollinators, including bees and bumblebees.
Soil stabilization : Thanks to its deep taproot, it limits erosion and improves soil structure.
