Also known as Tulsi , 'Sacred' basil is an aromatic and medicinal plant highly prized for its many virtues. Cultivation method:
Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, pressing them lightly into moist potting soil but not covering them completely, as they need light to germinate. Maintain a temperature of 68-77°F (20-25°C) to encourage germination in 7-14 days. Transplant outdoors after all danger of frost, spacing them 8-12 inches (20-30 cm) apart, in well-drained soil and full sun.
Water regularly, but avoid soaking the soil. To encourage bushy growth, pinch off the ends of the stems. Harvest the leaves as soon as the plant is well developed and before flowering for optimum flavor.
