Okra seeds produce flavorful pods that are perfect for soups and stews, or deliciously crispy when fried. Also known as "Gumbo," okra is a member of the hibiscus and hollyhock family, with ornamental white to yellow flowers that measure 1.5 to 3 inches (4 to 8 cm). This heat- and drought-tolerant annual plant can grow up to 4 feet (120 cm) tall.

Cultivation method :
Soak seeds in warm water overnight before sowing directly outdoors in late May or early June. Choose a site in full sun and plant seeds 1 cm deep, 2.5 cm apart, in rows 90 cm apart. Thin to 45 cm spacing in the rows. Water regularly to encourage pod development. Flowers appear about 60 days after germination, and pods are ready to harvest 10 days after flowering. Remove old pods to encourage new production.
