Pattypan squash 'Sunny Delight' F1 (Cucurbita pepo), offered by the seed company WH Perron

The 'Sunny Delight' F1 pattypan squash is an early-maturing and highly productive annual variety, prized for its bright yellow , flattened, " voter's cap" -shaped fruits. Measuring 6 to 8 cm in diameter, they offer tender, flavorful, and delicate flesh, particularly delicious grilled, sautéed, or stuffed. Its compact growth habit makes it ideal for growing in pots, containers, or small gardens , while ensuring abundant and consistent production. This variety is also distinguished by its good resistance to greenish discoloration , thus preserving its beautiful, vibrant yellow hue for longer.

Growing tips

Abundant and regular watering is essential to maintain consistent moisture and promote continuous production. Incorporating organic matter into the soil and mulching after planting helps retain moisture and suppress weeds. In cooler regions, using cloches or tunnels protects young plants and accelerates growth.

Harvest

Harvest the fruits when the flower naturally detaches from the tip of the pattypan squash, at a young stage for the most tender flesh possible. Early, decorative, and flavorful , the 'Sunny Delight' F1 pattypan squash is an excellent choice for quick summer harvests, as beautiful in the garden as it is delicious on the plate.
