A Versatile and Essential Spice

Cumin Seeds (Cuminum cyminum), offered by OSC Seeds

Cumin is an annual herb treasured in culinary and medicinal traditions for its distinctive, powerful flavor. A key ingredient in curries, this plant grows to a height of 45 cm and thrives in long, warm growing seasons for maximum seed aroma.

Spread: Not applicable
Plant height: 45 cm
Packet size: Approx. 300 seeds
Companion plants: Dill, cilantro, carrots
Incompatible plants: None notable

How to Grow :

Soak seeds for 8 hours before sowing to enhance germination. In regions with long growing seasons, sow directly 3 mm deep and 15 cm apart in a sunny location. Thin seedlings to 20 cm apart as they grow. Alternatively, start seeds indoors in a soilless mix 4–6 weeks before the last frost. After hardening off, transplant seedlings outdoors once the risk of frost has passed. Germination occurs in 10–15 days.

A well-cared-for cumin crop will add a unique flavor to your dishes and bring an exotic touch to your herb garden.
