A Timeless Fragrance for Your Garden

Lavender seeds (Lavandula officialis, Lavandula angustifolia), offered by the seed company OSC.

Native to the Mediterranean, lavender is a multi-stemmed herbaceous and shrubby plant that thrives in sunny climates and well-drained soils. It produces fragrant flowers that are prized for sachets, potpourris, and gardening. It is an essential food source for bees. Plants grow to an average height of 18-24 inches and are perennial in zones 6 and above, with winter protection required in zones 5.

Spread: Up to 45 cm.
Plant height: 45-60 cm.
Quantity per pack: Approx 160 seeds/pkt.
Companion plants: Rosemary, thyme, sage.
Enemy plants: Plants requiring moist or clayey soil.

How to Grow:

Sow directly into well-drained, sunny soil in late May or late August. Cover seeds lightly (3mm deep), space 2.5cm apart, then thin to 30cm between plants. For most reliable germination, start indoors 10 weeks before last frost at 21°C, with an optional 5-week cold stratification at 4°C. Seeds may take 14-30 days to germinate. Once transplanted, prune lightly after flowering and provide winter protection in zone 5. Also try vegetative propagation with cuttings or by layering for more uniform results.

A versatile and aromatic addition, lavender will beautify your garden while attracting pollinators. A must for lovers of fragrant herbs and flowers!
