A traditional variety very popular during the holiday season , “Laurentian” is a heritage rutabaga often called “turnip” in several regions of Canada. The seeds are not graded to ensure excellent value . The round, firm roots have a mild , slightly sweet flesh, ideal for purées, stews, vegetable roasts, and winter storage.

Planting and maintenance:
Sow in full sun in fertile, deep, well-drained soil. Sow in rows 30–45 cm apart, then thin to 10–15 cm to encourage even root development. Maintain consistent moisture to prevent root splitting or a fibrous texture. Harvest when the roots are a good round size, just before the first persistent frosts. Excellent for storing in a cool cellar.
