Basil microgreens
description
Basil seeds for sprouting (Ocimum basilicum), offered by the seed company Weston Seeds
Basil sprouts develop a sweet, fragrant, aromatic flavor reminiscent of fresh basil. Their vibrant color and distinct aroma make them excellent microgreens for enhancing salads, sandwiches, pasta, pizzas, or cold dishes. They add a fresh and elegant touch to culinary creations and are easily grown on a simple moistened surface without pre-soaking.
Height: 4 to 7 cm
Spacing: Close-cropped surface area
Sowing: Indoor germination, without soaking
Exposure: Soft light
Quantity per packet: 10g of seeds, untreated, non-GMO
Cultivation method:
Use a natural clay surface, a thick, unbleached paper towel, or a thin layer of soil. Do not soak the seeds: spread them in an even layer on the moistened surface, then lightly mist twice a day. Basil germinates into small, aromatic leaves and can be harvested at the desired stage. It can also be added in small quantities to other sprouting mixes to enhance their flavor. Harvest by gently cutting at the base and allow to dry slightly before refrigerating.
Soaking
No soaking is required: the seeds germinate directly when placed on a moistened surface.
Yield
One tablespoon of seeds produces approximately 3 to 4 cups of aromatic sprouts, depending on the growing time.
Storage
Store the seeds in a cool, dry place. The refrigerator or freezer ensures excellent shelf life and a good germination rate.
