Cultivation method


To improve germination, soak seeds in warm water for 12 hours before sowing.


Sow directly into the ground after the last spring frosts . For fall harvests, sow 6 to 8 weeks before the first frosts . Thin out after emergence to encourage root development.


Harvesting and conservation


Beets can be harvested at any size , depending on the desired use. Pick the young leaves for use in salads, or wait until the roots reach full maturity.


For optimal conservation , cut the tops 2-3 cm from the root and store the beets in a perforated plastic bag in the refrigerator or in a cool cellar at 0°C and 95% humidity .
