Farming method

Sow the seeds 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost , either on the surface or 0.1 cm deep , as they need light to germinate . Germination occurs in 10 to 14 days , at an ideal temperature of around 18°C . Transplanting is recommended , but direct sowing is also possible as soon as the soil is workable, keeping the soil slightly moist until emergence.

Chamomile prefers a sunny location (level 3) and light watering (level 1) . It adapts well to poor to average soils, provided they are well-drained.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest the flowers when they are fully open , ideally in dry weather. Four to five harvests per season are possible, which stimulates the production of new flowers. Dry the flowers on a screen , away from direct sunlight, stirring them periodically until completely dry. Then store them in airtight containers , away from light, to preserve their aromatic potency.
