The 'Purple Jalapeño' pepper is distinguished by an exceptional color transition : from deep green to purple , almost black , and then to blood red when fully ripe. Its small, 2-inch fruits, accompanied by lavender flowers , develop a moderate heat of 2,500 to 8,000 SHU , while being milder and slightly sweeter than classic jalapeños. Its crisp, fragrant flesh makes it an excellent choice for colorful salsas, contrasting pickles, Mexican dishes, or reimagined jalapeño poppers. In addition to its culinary appeal, it is a remarkable ornamental variety, offering a true chromatic display throughout the season.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting out. Place the seeds 6 mm deep in warm potting soil and maintain a temperature of 27–31°C for germination in 7 to 21 days. Harden off the seedlings to 18–19°C , then transplant into full sun (level 3). Water moderately (level 2). Space plants 30–45 cm apart and rows 60–75 cm apart. Warmth promotes intense purple color and good yields.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit reaches its final color —deep purple, blackish, or red—depending on its intended use. Regular harvesting encourages continuous production . Store the fruit at 10–12°C with high humidity to maintain its firmness.
