'Laxton's Progress Number 9' is a compact heirloom variety, renowned for its high yield and generous 4- to 5-inch pods, containing up to nine perfectly round, sweet peas . Farming method

Soak the seeds for a maximum of 8 hours , then sow directly outdoors at a depth of 2.5 cm . Space plants 15 cm apart and rows 30 to 45 cm apart. Germination occurs in seven to twenty-one days at temperatures between 4 and 29°C , with an optimum around 15°C . This variety prefers cooler seasons and can be sown in late summer for an autumn harvest. Provide partial sun/partial shade (level 2) and consistent watering (level 2). Dwarf plants do not usually require staking.


Harvesting and preservation

Harvest when the pods are fully filled , picking regularly to prolong production. Store the pods at 1-2°C for about a week.
