Organic 'Barossa Fest Dwarf' tomato
Organic 'Barossa Fest Dwarf' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a vigorous, productive and bright Australian dwarf variety with sweet and tangy flavors
The 'Barossa Fest Dwarf' tomato is a remarkable creation of the Dwarf Tomato Project , resulting from a cross between Green Giant and Golden Dwarf Champion . Although classified as a dwarf tomato, this indeterminate variety develops an impressive stature over the course of the season, reaching up to 4.5 feet , while maintaining a compact and robust structure thanks to its rough, potato-like leaves .
It produces small, pale yellow globes weighing 80 to 100g , firm, juicy, and bursting with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor , perfect for salads, fresh snacks, or everyday cooking. True to the spirit of the Dwarf Tomato Project, 'Barossa Fest' combines productivity, stability, and beauty , with generous and continuous yields from mid-season until the first frosts. Introduced in 2016 and named after the Barossa Valley wine region of Australia, it perfectly reflects the sunshine and mild climate of its place of inspiration.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting . Bury the seeds 3–6 mm deep in a light potting mix and maintain a temperature of 23–29 °C for rapid germination (5 to 10 days). Reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening off to produce sturdy, robust plants.
Transplant when all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 30–45 cm (12–18") apart, with 120–180 cm (4–6') between rows. Provide full sun , regular watering (level 3) , and, despite its dwarf habit , provide support for the abundant fruit clusters.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit is a uniform pale yellow and slightly soft. To advance the harvest, pick at the first sign of color , then allow to ripen off the vine at 22°C or above . Store between 12–21°C , at 95% relative humidity , to preserve freshness and firmness.
