Organic 'Blue Gold' Tomato
Organic 'Blue Gold' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a vibrant blue-gold bicolor, fruity, juicy and rich in anthocyanins
The 'Blue Gold' tomato is a spectacular heirloom variety, renowned for its unique contrast between the anthocyanin blue-violet —which develops on the sun-exposed shoulders—and a brilliant golden-yellow that intensifies as it ripens. Medium-sized and round, it often displays a beautiful gradient from dark blue to gold, sometimes with a subtle pink blush near the stem.
Its juicy flesh has a fruity, sweet, slightly tangy, and very well-balanced flavor , ideal for salads, slices, or as a garnish tomato. From the new pigmented varieties, it is also prized for its high anthocyanin content , natural antioxidants.
The plants are vigorous, indeterminate, and productive , offering a consistent harvest throughout the season. 'Blue Gold' is also known for its good resistance to downy mildew , making it an excellent choice for humid or unstable climates.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost . Sow 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") deep in a light potting mix and maintain 23–29°C for germination in 5 to 10 days. Reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening off to produce sturdy, compact seedlings.
Transplant once all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 60 to 90 cm apart with 120 to 180 cm between rows. Choose a sunny location , essential for developing blue pigmentation. Water regularly ( level 3 ) and provide sturdy support , as the plants are vigorous and laden with fruit.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the base of the fruit turns a bright golden yellow and the blue-violet shoulders are a deep dark color. To get a head start, harvest at the first sign of blush , then let the fruit ripen off the vine at 22°C . Store between 12 and 21°C , at 95% humidity , to preserve juiciness and firmness.
