Farming method

Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting . Sow 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") deep in a light potting mix, at a temperature of 23–29 °C , for germination in 5 to 10 days . Then reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening-off to strengthen the seedlings.

Transplant when all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 60–90 cm (24–36") apart if grown in a garden bed, or plant one per hanging basket . Provide full sun (level 3) and regular watering (level 3) . Light support can be added, but is not essential due to its cascading habit.

Harvesting and preservation

Harvest when the small cherries are a uniform pink and slightly soft. To advance the harvest, pick those that have already begun to color , then let them ripen at 22°C or higher . Store between 12–21°C , at 95% relative humidity , to preserve their juiciness.
