Organic 'Lucky Leprechaun' Tomato
Organic 'Lucky Leprechaun' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a small, sweet red tomato, robust and surprisingly productive in pots
The 'Lucky Leprechaun' tomato is an irresistible heirloom variety for gardeners short on space but unwilling to compromise on yield or flavor. Indeterminate yet very compact , it forms sturdy plants 60 to 90 cm (2 to 3 ft) tall with light green, slightly rough foliage. Its round, red fruits, weighing 1 to 2 oz , sometimes show slight radial cracks, but their flavor remains mild, sweet, and pleasantly balanced. This variety is distinguished above all by its impressive productivity for such a small plant , making it perfectly suited to 1- to 2-gallon pots , balconies, and small urban gardens.
With its dense growth habit, pleasant taste and ability to produce abundantly on a miniaturized plant, 'Lucky Leprechaun' truly lives up to its name: it brings luck, abundance and deliciousness to the vegetable garden.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Place the seeds 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") deep in a light potting mix and maintain a temperature of 23–29°C until germination (5–10 days). Reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening off to produce short, sturdy, well-formed seedlings.
Transplant when all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 60 to 90 cm (24 to 36 inches) apart, with 120 to 180 cm (4 to 6 feet) between rows. For container growing, choose a 1- to 2-gallon pot , provide full sun (level 3) , and water regularly (watering level 3) . Light staking is usually sufficient to support the compact growth habit.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit has reached its characteristic bright red color. To hasten the harvest, pick those showing their first signs of color , then let them ripen off the vine at 22°C or higher . Store the fruit at 12-21°C , under 95% relative humidity , to maintain freshness.
