Organic 'Q Series Panamorous' tomato
'Q Series Panamorous' organic tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a small wild-domesticated hybrid tomato with an unpredictable and decidedly vibrant charm
The 'Q Series Panamorous' tomato belongs to the fascinating lineage selected by the renowned Joseph Lofthouse, whose work aims to create resilient, open, genetically diverse varieties capable of co-evolving with their environment. Developed from a mix of wild and domestic tomatoes—including 'Brad', 'Jagodka', and 'Big Hill'—this variety is distinguished by its panamorous nature , meaning an increased tendency toward open cross-pollination, particularly evident in gardens rich in pollinators. Determinate and dwarf, it forms small, compact plants that produce an abundance of red or orange fruits , often slightly different from plant to plant in both shape and flavor.
'Q Series Panamorous' captivates with its fruity, vibrant, and surprising character: each plant can offer a unique expression of its wild origins, ranging from a tangy sweetness to a richer, deeper flavor. This diversity is an integral part of its charm. Due to this genetic variability, germination may be uneven, and it is recommended to grow at least seven plants to fully appreciate the richness of character this series offers. An ideal variety for gardeners who love experimentation, biodiversity, and spontaneity in their vegetable garden.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds 3–6 mm (1/8–1/4") deep in a light potting mix and maintain a temperature of 23–29°C for germination in 5 to 10 days , although this may be irregular due to the variety's wild heritage. Reduce watering and nitrogen during hardening off to produce compact, sturdy plants.
Transplant when all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 30 to 45 cm (12 to 18 inches) apart with 120 to 180 cm (4 to 6 feet) between rows. Provide full sun (level 3) and regular watering (watering level 3) . This dwarf variety requires little pruning and only light staking .
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit has developed a deep red or orange hue. To advance the harvest, pick the fruit that has already begun to color , then let it ripen off the vine at 22°C or higher . Store between 12 and 21°C with 95% relative humidity to preserve its freshness.
