Organic 'Wapsipicon Peach' Tomato
Organic 'Wapsipinicon Peach' tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) from the seed company Gaia, a small, sweet and velvety peach tomato
The 'Wapsipinicon Peach' tomato, also known as Yellow Peach or White Peach , is a rare heirloom variety dating back to 1890, originally selected by Elbert S. Carman and later reintroduced by Dennis Schlicht. This beautiful tomato owes its name to its delicately fuzzy skin, reminiscent of a peach. Its round fruits, 4 to 5 cm (1.5 to 2") in diameter, are a pale yellow color, often tinged with pink, and contain sweet, juicy, and perfectly balanced flesh. An indeterminate variety, it produces generously until the first frosts, while also exhibiting good resistance to rot.
Its velvety texture, fruity sweetness and unique appearance make it an excellent tasting tomato, highly appreciated by gardeners and collectors of old varieties.

Farming method
Sow indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date. Place the seeds 3 to 6 mm (1/8 to 1/4") deep in fine potting soil. Maintain a temperature between 23 and 29°C to ensure germination in 5 to 10 days. During hardening off, reduce watering and nitrogen application to strengthen the seedlings.
Transplant outdoors once all risk of frost has passed. Space plants 60 to 90 cm (24 to 36 inches) apart in rows 120 to 180 cm (4 to 6 feet) apart. Provide full sun (level 3) and regular watering (watering level 3). Provide sturdy supports for continued fruit production.
Harvesting and preservation
Harvest when the fruit displays its subtly pinkish-cream-yellow color. To get an early harvest, pick them when the first hint of pink appears, then let them ripen off the vine at 22°C or above. Store the fruit at 12–21°C with approximately 95% relative humidity.
