Crocosmia 'Emily McKenzie' (10)

The montbretia 'Emily McKenzie' develops sword-shaped green foliage, similar to that of a gladiolus, forming a dense and elegant clump. The flower stalks bear bright orange tubular flowers, marked by a broad, blood-red halo at the base of the petals and a luminous golden center. Highly prized as a cut flower, it attracts pollinators and adapts well to calcareous soils as well as maritime climates.

How to plant them
Plant the corms approximately 8 to 10 cm deep in well-drained soil. Space the corms to allow for good air circulation and the formation of vigorous clumps. Planting should be done in spring, once the risk of frost has passed.

Culture
This plant thrives in sunny locations and light to moist soils. It is easily grown outdoors with moderate watering during the growing season. It tolerates coastal conditions well.

Interview
Remove faded flowers to prolong blooming. Allow the foliage to dry naturally before cutting it back. In colder regions, mulch in winter and divide clumps that have become too dense after a few years.
