' Profit' corn is sown directly in the garden from mid-May to mid-June , once the soil has warmed up. Sowing can be done earlier in light, warm, and well-drained soils , but should be delayed in cold, wet soils such as clay. It requires full sun and fertile, cool, light, humus-rich soil .
Sow in clusters of 3 to 4 seeds , spaced approximately 25 cm apart, with rows 70 cm apart. The sowing depth varies between 1 and 3 cm , depending on the seed size. To promote optimal pollination and obtain well-filled ears, it is advisable to plant in several short rows rather than in a single long row.
Harvest :
The ears of corn form in the leaf axils, along the stem. Harvesting begins when the kernels are fully plump , still supple , and a milky liquid oozes out when pierced with a fingernail. To pick, grasp the ear and twist downwards to detach it cleanly from the stem. Harvest as you go to enjoy maximum sweetness.
