Rhododendron 'P.J.M. Elite Star', also known as 'P.J.M. Elite Star' rhododendron, is an ornamental evergreen shrub prized for its great hardiness and very early bloom. This selection from the P.J.M. group forms a dense, compact, and well-rounded bush that easily fits into flower beds, shrub borders, and woodland gardens. From early spring, the shrub is covered with an abundance of luminous rosy-lavender flowers that elegantly contrast with its glossy dark green foliage. In autumn and winter, the leaves often take on a purplish-bronze hue, adding additional decorative interest to the garden outside of the blooming period. Very reliable in cold climates, this rhododendron tolerates sun better than many other varieties while preferring acidic, organically rich, and well-drained soils. Its early flowering makes it a highly appreciated plant for announcing the return of spring.
