Biochar is a horticultural soil amendment produced through the controlled carbonization of plant matter. Its ultra-porous structure acts as a stable matrix capable of sustainably improving the physical, chemical, and biological quality of soils. Used for over 2,500 years, it is now a recognized agronomic tool for supporting long-term fertility.

When gradually incorporated into the soil, biochar promotes the formation of an environment conducive to microbial activity and nutrient stabilization. Its exceptional persistence makes it a long-lasting soil amendment that can contribute to soil improvement for decades.

How to use

Gradually incorporate into the soil to reach a target rate of 1 kg per m², spread over a period of 1 to 5 years depending on the cultivation strategy adopted. Mix with compost or an organic amendment before application to promote its biological activation.

Fine particle size is recommended for multi-cell trays, seedlings, and narrow containers. Regular particle size is more suitable for flower beds, vegetable gardens, and planting directly in the ground.

Applications

Suitable for vegetable gardens, ornamental flower beds, container gardening, greenhouses, fruit trees and agricultural soils. Particularly relevant in soils poor in organic matter, prone to leaching or with low water retention capacity.

Suitable for living mixtures combining biochar and compost to create a biologically active substrate promoting root growth and plant vigor.

Features and benefits

Ultra-porous structure

It functions like a mineral sponge capable of retaining water and nutrients, reducing losses through leaching.
