Latin name

Common name
Hybrid elm 'Pioneer'
Type
TREE
Family
Ulmaceae

Ulmus × 'Pioneer' is a vigorous hybrid elm, resulting from a cross between Ulmus glabra and Ulmus minor, selected for its increased resistance to Dutch elm disease and its rounded to broad oval habit. Its dense, dark green foliage, with doubly serrated edges, turns golden yellow in autumn, adding a touch of late-season color. It grows quickly and forms a low, spreading canopy, perfect for shade, avenues, boulevards or parks. Very hardy, tolerant of pollution and urban soils, it prefers full sun exposure and well-drained soil. 'Pioneer' combines disease resistance, rapid growth and a majestic habit, ideal for replanting areas affected by elm decline with security and elegance.
